En ouvrant ma boite aux lettres aujourd'hui, je tombe, entre deux pubs pour Castorama, sur une belle enveloppe cachetée à la cire et sentant le pin des Landes écrite par Nick Sylvester et renfermant une belle petite surprise.
Nick Sylvester (on ne parlera pas de son renvoi de Pitchfork, abandonné sur la route de la gloire comme un malpropre) a en effet glissé dans sa lettre parfumée "a humble headbanger music", sorte de loukoum à la noisette pour oreilles délicates.
Comme il l'écrit dans sa lettre :
The Bachelor is my solo project, from a four-song EP called MISTAKES WERE MADE. The vinyl should be in soon.
"Sweet Knit Snowcap" was self-recorded over two days in march in brooklyn. I played all the instruments, sang, mixed, and then had some basic mastering done at work by Todd Kilponen, who just won a grammy.
I wanted to make songs that sound like psych-pop songs, but for meatheads--songs that my thirteen-year-old self might theoretically practice his stage dive to.
Pourquoi MISTAKES WERE MADE?
It's a creative mantra. I tend to learn best by making mistakes, owning the mistakes, making sense of them. Accident is the godhead of the new. But that would have been a clumsy title for an EP.
Nick Sylvester est décidément un homme plein de ressources. En plus de The Bachelor, il taquine de la baguette pour Mr Dream et édite avec quelques comparses un joli petit magazine poétiquement appelé Perineum.
